The project aims to develop a functional prototype of genetically modified bacteriophages targeting Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Paenibacillus larvae using genetic engineering. Its goal is to expand the range of naturally lytic phages with modified therapeutic phages capable of addressing rising antibiotic resistance. The innovation lies in converting temperate phages into lytic ones with enhanced properties and altered host range, enabling their use in phage therapy. Such products are not yet available on the market and hold strong potential for application in Czech, European, and global healthcare.
